A beautifully weathered Quebec decoy from Verdun, dating to the second quarter of the 20th century. Hand-carved in painted wood, the form carries the sculptural simplicity and honest wear that define the finest utilitarian folk objects.

Its original painted surface has aged gracefully, with moderate wear to the bill and head lending warmth and character to the piece. Though the head has loosened over time, the decoy remains structurally sound and displays beautifully — a compelling example of Canadian sporting and folk tradition.
