A hundred-plus years ago, a young woman named Joséphine Mouranchon started making soap from lavender oil in the south of France, and her grandsons are still running the company today. That's the whole pitch, really — five generations of one Provençal family, still triple-milling soap the old way because the old way happens to be the right way. It takes almost three weeks to make a proper bar, and you can tell.

We keep this one around because it smells like an actual French farmhouse, not a candle aisle. Lavender, fig, milk — simple, honest scents for a bathroom that doesn't need to try too hard.
